Smok Pen, Review – Could it be WORTHWHILE?
The Smok Pen has made quite an impression since it was initially launched almost three years ago. It has since become probably the most popular writing tools among serious pen users everywhere. When I bought my Smok Pen, I knew immediately that I had purchased the answer to my long-lasting problem with pens. For quite a while I had been looking for a replacement to the extremely reliable rollerball pen that I have had since college.
Like many others, I have trouble getting a good pen that’s comfortable to hold for extended periods of time. The Smok Pen fills this niche. It requires up less space in my own bag when I make it because it doesn’t take a seat on a table top like other pens do. I also don’t have to be worried about replacing the ink cartridge or the cartridge case like I’ve had to in past times. The smok pen 22 has a charger and a USB cord just like any other pen.
The most effective things about the Smok pen may be the incredible quality of its battery. It has a NiCad (or nickel cadmium) battery which is rechargeable. For anybody who don’t know, a NiCad battery is really a lithium battery. They are very powerful and last for a very long time. Actually, I own two smok pens with a NiCad battery and I use them everyday.
The design of the Smok Pen includes a very unique and novel coolant system. When you put the pen in the Smok Pen Stand-On Top Pen, it instantly vents the nib air outwards. The airflow then goes over the complete nib and gets pushed through the converter and in to the pen’s reservoir where the ink is stored. This ventilation design offers a very cool and steady blast of air to assist in fountain penning. The airflow is especially important in the Smok Vaporizer, because this is actually the only pen that allows you to manually control the flow of your ink.
As well as the ventilation design, the pen uses two different types of airflow: a counter-clockwise rotation of the heating coils, and counter-clockwise rotation of the cooling coils. The counterclockwise rotation of the heating coils allows the ink to be infused with extra flavour. The cooling coil alternatively cools the ink, which allows your ink to be made even smoother. The end result of the two airflow systems is a superior quality of flavour in your e-liquids.
On the bottom of the pen, you will discover an adjustable airflow control which allows you to control how much ink is infused, as well as a temperature control for precision mixing. I’ve found the opportunity to adjust the airflow and temperature of the pen pretty useful. Not only that, but the capability to adjust the fire button is actually helpful in situations where you might get scared by the fire and desire to try another thing.
The Smok pen 22 can be vaporized with either a standard pen or with a rebuildable coil. I’ve tried it both with the rebuildable coil and with a standard pen. Generally, I favor the rebuildable coil because it makes replacing batteries much easier. The only time that I’ve had trouble vaporizing the pen was when the batteries were Puff Bar Flavors half discharged and needed to be refilled again.
To summarize, I love the Smok pen very much. It’s cheap, user friendly and gets the job done. I’d definitely recommend the product to anyone looking for a pen that produces good vapour. My only real complaint is that it lacks a sub-ohm, which might prove to be a deal breaker for some people.
